Did you ever wonder...
what drives you to remain in a situation, be it personal or professional? Some recent conversations while I was away prompted this little inner conversation on my return trip. Is it complacency, familiarity with the other person or people, be it loved ones or co-workers, or a genuine care for the person.
More and more these days, I am finding that "genuine care" for the workplace is a misguided direction. Companies, in my view, care less about their employees each year, as shown by their increased "costs" for health insurance, lowered raises, and general "just be thankful you have a job" attitude towards appreciating their employees. This is an overall impression I've received in speaking with others, though your mileage may vary. Complacency, or perhaps fear of looking and keeping a new job, seems to rate pretty high on the scale for workers.
Anyway, some food for thought, maybe we'll continue this thread later...
