Just My Rambling Thoughts

Upgrades, upgrades, upgrades

This week is upgrade week at work. In advance of a major eLearning initiative, we're upgrading our LMS servers to new hardware. That's new hardware for the database and the application servers. Add to that, upgrades of the LMS software and the DB2 version, I'm looking forward to a fun weekend. Happy Valentine's Day!!

On top of that, we're having to push forward our LVC upgrade to this weekend as well. Seems that the version we currently have (1.1.1) doesn't like users with apostrophes in their names. So all you O'Reillys, O'Briens, and D'Stephanos out there - no LVC for you. Fortunately, 1.1.2 fixes that, along with letting me get the last servers up to 6.x code. Oh yeah, there's still the Sametime (hey, if it's good enough for Ambuj, it's good enough for me!) server, but not this weekend.

I'm still waiting for a couple of clarifications from support on DB2 fixpak levels among other things - I'm hoping 7a is OK, since that means I can play with Beta 3 at work - hehehe.

Other than that, I'm just nailing down the timeline to get everything done, and waiting for the weekend to arrive. Oh yeah, and finish my drafts for the Admin2005 conference

Lotusphere '05 recap

A much more detailed recap will be forthcoming, once I finish writing it up. Suffice it to say, the Kool-Aid tasted great this year, much better than a couple of year's ago. The energy and enthusiasm of the crowds, along with the great presentations, made for a great week.

I look forward to seeing more of the vision coming up, can't wait to get my paws on a copy of Workplace Services Express once it's available for download on PA. We're already talking with our IBM and Lotus reps about getting a meeting together to go over direction for this year - a first for us here.

I didn't get to meet as many people as I wanted, but that's what next year is for!
