Just My Rambling Thoughts

6.14.2005

So....where have you been?

Well, I've been realizing for the past few days that I haven't put anything up since before the Admin2005 conference. I'm finally giving in and making some time to post something, but note the time. :-)

The conference was wonderful, as I'm sure any readers stopping by have noted on other blogs. All my sessions went very well, good questions, good attendance and I didn't end exceedingly early for any sessions. My "Intro to DB2 for the Notes Administrator" session was so well received that it gets to go to Europe for the Admin conference in Europe. Sadly, I won't be joining it since they understandably can't pay for me to travel to present one session. Maybe next time...

Any way, things at work are swinging. The Notes 6.5 client rollout is going on at full speed...and working better than I had expected. We're using a home-grown SMS installer script to convert R5 users into Notes 6.5 multi-user installs. I'd prefer to have used a deployment tool, but it wasn't in the budget.

Our LMS/LVC issues appear to be behind us and they're starting a new major initiative that impacts about 25% of the company. I'm about ready to think that the training folks are starting to understand it and start something good. We also had a briefing from IBM on the futures and I think the users are warming up to the concepts, both for IBM's take on eLearning and also the Workplace concept around Portal and Workplace Services express.

Anyway, while I was at the Admin conference, I was talking with Chris Miller of IdoNotes fame and I'm about ready to bite and move the blog over to his hosting. Just need to decide on a domain name and work on the template and blog style. I'll also work on migrating content from this blog to the new one, since I'll hopefully get more readers once I move. And that would also mean a more regular writing schedule.
